This week Leasing World has revealed the first three category shortlists for 2018, with the winners to be revealed at our Awards Dinner on October 30th. This year will be the first time the Leasing World Awards Ceremony has hosted 300 people. It is going to be a full house at the Hilton London Bankside (2-8 Great Suffolk Street, London SE1 0UG).

In the Business Finance Champion category, the following names are on the shortlist: Aldermore Business Finance, White Oak UK, Metro Bank and Wesleyan Bank.

The four firms who have made the shortlist for our Broker Champion of the Year 2018 award are: Hitachi Capital Business Finance, Hampshire Trust Bank Asset Finance, Aldermore Business Finance and Close Brothers Business Finance.

Newly published today (Friday 21st September), the shortlist for Top Asset Finance Legal Team is as follows: Locke Lord LLP, Shoosmiths LLP, and Gateley plc.

Congratulations, and best of luck, to all the above - and watch this space for shortlists in our other categories.

To ensure it’s an open race, we’ve deliberately kept the criteria as much qualitative as quantitative. In pretty much all of the categories, the judges look for “the difference” over the year, some might think of it as the improvement, the winning combination of business growth, dynamism, clever ideas, and good management that has earned the respect of the winner’s peers.

Each category is assessed by two or three judges, depending on the number of entries for the category, with judges nominating their first and second choices in categories they are reviewing. To avoid any undue bias, the judges do not meet to discuss the entries, but submit their verdicts without knowing how the other judges have awarded their votes.

You’ll see the shortlists being rolled out over the coming weeks, and more importantly you’ll be able to see and applaud the winners on October 30th. Any good awards ceremony is more about the people than the prizes. While we can put together a drinks reception, raffles, after-dinner party and a fine dinner, it’s our guests who provide the atmosphere.

We hope to see you there on the night!
